Bobst has become the second high-profile exhibitor to announce it will not be bringing machinery to Ipex, following Manroland's decision to focus on applications.
Instead, the finishing kit manufacturer Bobst has announced three "distinct experiences" for visitors, both on- and off-site. On its stand, the company will display a "virtual post-press experience", showcasing the entire spectrum of its equipment.
The company has yet to reveal exactly what the "virtual experience" will entail, but a spokesman said commercial printers would be able to see the entire finishing process on stand.
Off-site, visitors can go to Hinckley-based Printing & Packaging Co and Bobst's training centre in Redditch – both sites are within half an hour of the venue.
Nigel Tracey, sheetfed business director, said: "The idea is to give visitors a choice, depending on their interests, and on how much time they have to spare."
Joe Sall, chairman of Printing & Packaging Co, added: "We are delighted to be able to open up our facilities to Ipex 2010 visitors."
Printing & Packaging Co has the first UK Expertcut to feature bottom-reading of printed marks on a sheet.
At the training centre, a Bobst Commercial 106 die-cutter and a Visionfold 110 capacity folder-gluer will be handling a four-colour, two-up capacity folder.
